FUNDESUMA was created in 1996 as a non-profit, nongovernmental organization, dedicated to the improvement of humanitarian supply management systems at the global level. It supports, promotes and develops the SUMA methodology, assisting PAHO /WHO in:

• Technical and operational support
• Providing training in Latin America, the Caribbean and globally; and
• Maintaining and upgrading SUMA software

Some 3,000 volunteers, primarily from Latin America and the Caribbean, have been trained to use the SUMA system and form. SUMA teams. They come from the ranks of ministries of health and other health agencies, civil defense or national emergency committees, Red Cross societies, fire fighters and other first responders unit’s, customs departments, and nongovernmental organizations
